About us

Meet the Founder

Hello, I am so grateful you stopped by!

I am an Indigenous Mestizo, born on my ancestral land in the California valley. I am the first in my family to obtain a degree from university. I am a spirit that loves to wander, explore, and try new things. I am an advocate for human equity and LGBTQ rights. I am a child of God. And as Pierre de Chardin says, “I am a spiritual being having a human experience”.

I worked independently and in the non-profit sector prior to launching POC BOX. In this realm, I planned and designed large-scale fundraisers, cultivation and stewardship events, and lent a hand in community arts partnership efforts. My past design work has been praised in a variety of international and local publications.

The journey so far!

The journey started in 1989. Anthony was nominated for his notable acts of kindness and humility. I guess you can say he was channeling his inner Mother Theresa from a very early age. This landed him a spot on the cover of a local newspaper and was one of two children selected to be the poster children for United Way's 1989 Campagin.

PB fully launched immediately following the George Floyd devastation. Based in Minneapolis, he wanted to create a larger impact that would become an integral part of the positive change we needed in this country. In the beginning, it was not easy to locate BIPOC-owned businesses online, let alone in big box stores, so he decided to create a space that fosters a community of equity and kindness, welcome to all.

His dream for economic equity is that we can all be regarded for our talents and contributions. After all, we are all more alike than different. We look forward to continuing our efforts to build and sustain a more equitable marketplace for consumer packaged goods created by Black and Brown businesses.

It means a great deal to those who are oppressed to know that they are not alone. Never let anyone tell you that what you are doing is insignificant.

- Desmond Tutu

How We Give Back

POC Box thrives by giving back and supporting social missions in the realm of equity. We are focused on building back better by helping causes near and dear to us and our friends. We always support small BIPOC-owned businesses and non-profit organizations that focus on youth, within the Twin Cities and beyond.

Anthony offers pro bono design and business consulting for small businesses throughout the year.
